When I bought my 21 SA about 18 years ago I was astounded when I looked at
the first negatives that were produced by it. Consecutive frames were
nearly touching! The top and bottom very nearly touched the sproket holes!

I finally deduced that this was because the SA rear element nearly touches
the shutter. Light leaving it is sent out (at the edges) at such an angle
that exposes film in the area normally blocked by the film gate. These
negatives are (from memory) about 38mm wide.
