Subject: [Leica] LUGer's Smithsonian Air & Space Photos

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit the Smithsonian Air & Space museum this afternoon (a must-do on any visit to Washington DC) and had a chance to see LUGer David Almy's photographs of commercial aircraft. Having one's photographs selected to be displayed is an honor, but Almy's work is truly impressive. Unlike the straight plane shots that adorn most books and appear in the rest of the museum, the human side of aviation is apparent through shots of a Bell helicopter and a airplane in flight which are well-planned and detailed enough (because of the Leica optics used?)to clearly show the faces of the people traveling in and operating them. A job well done!
