eeeek !!!

as the person who started all this....can i just ask whether we can
all get along ?

i was simply interested in people's views on getting their kids a
camera !

i think there were some common responses:

1. don't spend too much because kids can lose, abuse, and get abused.
i think doug sent in the most graphic reasons for that.

2. make it easy for them to get pictures that excite them. i forget
the name of the poster who pointed out the advantages of aperature
priority automation, but i thought that was a really good point.

3. manual cameras allow kids to figure out what does what when
making photographs. several people pointed that out and it crossed
over in a sense with the dentists discussion.

they seem like good starting points ! it was certainly interesting to
see how people approached a common situation (parent wanting to
assist child in exploring photography).

whatever...i wish you all wonderful light !!
