Subject: [Leica] M3 Immortality

But the basic point remains, that M3 parts are drying up. However, the
mechanical nature of the beast means that parts can almost always be
fabricated even when NOS stocks are gone, though the price of repairs will
escalate dramatically.

Marc,

I believe that Professional Camera, NYC, can probably fabricate parts for much
older cameras than the M3 -- and not for outrageous cost either. Besides,
Leica Solms success rests on the immortality of Leicas -- that's one of its
selling points. That is also one of the reasons that an electronic Leica M
would not be a Leica. It would be something else. And an electronic Leica lens
would not be a Leica lens. It would be something else. If you want to spend
thousands on something else, be my guest.

If you want a true Leica, you have it now. If you wish for something else you
may be unfortunate enough to get what you desire.

Best,
Bob
