I find it to be a great lens. BUT...It is much larger - longer, wider,
heavier - than the 2.8, and all testers seem to agree that it is not as
sharp. That doesn't mean that it's not sharp. It means that it's not as
sharp. But the size does somewhat defeat the idea of the Leica. You can
easily drop the 2.8 in a jacket pocket - you'd better have strong pockets if
you're going to do that with the Summicron!

dear lug friends,

i have been tempted by very good looking 90mm summicron at a reasonable
price. checking on don chattertons and tamarkin sites the elmarit is usually
more expensive should i conclude that its qualities are not ranked very
high. it looks so nice, gives one add. stop and offers so much glass!

btw i did not find anything on erwins excellent pages.
