Subject: [Leica] Passport Warranties

Under the laws of EVERY US state, there is no need to send in the cards to
obtain warranty coverage -- in fact, under our obtrusive system of Federal
legislation, the Magnusson-Moss Act says the same.

Keep the cards, as they enhance resale value. Send a memo by FAX to Leica
if you're worried about notifying them.

The principal reason manufacturers want the cards is for market-survey data
(and, hey!, you guys though Leica didn't know ANYTHING about marketing --
well, at least they accumulate data). I see no reason to participate
without payment in their survey.
