Punch out the glass and screw them together until you have the correct "depth" of the ring. I have succesfully used this method for several friends who a/either could not find the ring, or b/balked at the excessive price charged for it. It works and most camera stores have 39 mm filters by off brand makers in their "junk" bins. Tom A
