Ben, My R8 went through a spell where after loading it it would sometimes "go crazy" and lock up. Nothing would work. It would not fire, would not advance, and the display on the back would flash 00. I sent it into Leica and this is some kind of problem they know about. They had it repaired and back to me very quickly and it has worked flawlessly for some 20-30 rolls of film the last month.
