Roger, although the Summicron is a legendary optic, I speak from
experience that the 2.8 Summaron (as differentiated from the 3.5
version) is an able performer, and assuming for your listed shooting
needs you'll not need f2 and most probably will be stopped down to at
least f4 most of the time, you'll not be disappointed by it. I've my
original 2.8 Summaron (mine is the non-RF version, but optically
identical) and shot alongside my 35 Summicron ASPH at f5.6 to f11 you
would need a dreadful lot of magnification to spot any difference. Do
have a good look through it with a small flashlight from the opposite
end, to be sure there's no clouding. It might well be cleansible but
will raise the price substantially. One in lesser cosmetic condition but
perfect glass would probably be a better value for you; however, all else
being equal between the two you listed, I would pay the extra $55 for the
mint- one.

Regards,
Nigel
