Subject: [Leica] Lugnuts meeting in London

The first-ever meeting of UK lugnuts has been suggested by Alastair
Firkin.

The venue is London, and the date is Sunday November 22.

Since Alastair is from the land of convicts, Botany Bay, Fosters amber
nectar, and Ned Kelly Australian Whisky, he has asked me to be the
co-ordinator at the UK end.

This is likely to be a small-scale event (we’re not expecting dozens
of guys), and will be at the mercy of the UK winter weather, I’m
suggesting we meet late-morning at one of the coffee-joints in Covent
Garden. This is central, and easily accessible by underground,
particularly for folks like myself who will have to travel up from the
country. It’s also *indoors*, so convenient if it’s pouring with rain.

Alastair’s idea is that we spend an afternoon shooting together,
swapping tales and gear. It gets dark around 4pm at that time of year,
so the photographic day may be limited for non-Noctilux owners!

Sooner or later rain/cold/darkness will probably drive us indoors to a
pub, and I’ve suggested that we wind up with a meal early evening.
Given that eating out in London can be expensive, a Greek meal could
be an ideal solution. Greek food is cheap, there are plenty of Greek
restaurants in central London, and they tend to be informal places
were the other patrons are unlikely to complain about noisy debates
over M v R or black taping your red dots.

The only problem is that many restaurants don’t open on a Sunday, but
I’ll check this out.

So far, two other guys have expressed interest in the event:

"Arthur C. R. Krick" <leica@mistral.co.uk>
"Martin Plant" <houghton@powernet.com>

If anyone else wants to join in. could you email me?

Once we know who’s coming, we can then plan what we’re going to do,
plus a fall-back if it’s bucketing with rain.

Regards,

Doug Richardson
