I've experienced the same problems buying in person at B&H as most of you
have buying mail oder from them.  I can't tell you how many times I've
asked for items with USA Warranty, they say they're in stock, and then they
turn out to be grey market.
I've gotten so tired of it, that now I insist on checking everything before
I leave the store.
The prices are the same or even higher than in small camera stores, and
they do have an "we are doing you a favor" attitude- still, it's really
very convenient.

In my opinion, the best camera stores in NYC are: Lens & Repro, Photo Care,
Tamarkin, B&H Photo

As for mail order, a few months ago I purchased a DR Summicron from Don
Black and have been very pleased.  Highly recomended.
