Jim-
With that dilute a solution of Rodinal, doesn't it act as a 'compensating'
developer? I had always thought so because the reaction products of the
dense areas retard the activity immediately next to unexposed areas creating
sharper delineation, but the dilute solution also keeps large high light
areas from blocking up while the shadows develop. I've used it for over
thirty years and for some work, especially people, it is superb. It is
supposedly the oldest proprietary developer still being made- If I recall,
it should be now well over a hundred years old-- I can't remember the exact
date it was introduced, but I don't even think you are that old! Your
scotch, maybe!
Dan :)
