Perhaps the employees will notice when the damn office is locked, or when their bills come due. Perhaps the pensioners (some of them are still alive?) will notice.....especially if they get screwed. On the other hand, the publisher won't mind. He made his money, his kids' trusts are paid up, hell, his mortgage was over years ago. THe competing papers won't mind. Their advertising rates will double, and with the glut of reporters and photographers now on the streets, they can pick and choose. To hell with raises!! We got plenty of people wanting your job.......if 'ya don't like it here, go on over to the competition....HA! you're right, probably won't matter at all....anybody remember the Dallas Times Herald?
