Subject: [Leica] Re: Independent Leica repair

For the older M equipment, and even newer but out of warranty M equipment,
I would definitely choose an independent, even though Ernst Hartmann is a
personal friend of mine. And he is a totally honest and most capable Leica
Service Director/Manager. But Leica has more work than they can keep up
with and they aren't looking for more work. Don't take that the wrong way.
I'm saying that they will never run out of work, and they don't have to do
anything in particular to keep the work coming in. They do, indeed, do a
good job.

An independent needs a reputation and works hard to earn your trust and,
hopefully, your return business.

My personal pick for an independent is:

Sherry Krauter
Factory Trained Leica Specialist
Golden Touch Quality Camera Repair
118 Purgatory Road
Campbell Hall, N. Y. 10916
(914) 496-8834
