From the Leitz General Catalogue of Photographic Equipment (Sept. 15,
1978 Ed.), p. 146, both the Summicron-C f/2 40mm and the Elmar-C f/4
90mm use the 5.5 series filter (flat mount with no threads and a
diameter of 36mm) which is held in by the flexible rubber screw-in lens
hood (different hoods). Both lenses have a front screw thread which is
M39 x 0.75, which does not correspond to the thread of E39 filters. T.
Kisselbach, Leica CL (Hove Camera Foto Books 1977) at p. 52. 5.5 series
filters are available.

Richard, both the Summicron-M f/2 35mm (series 7 filter with hood 12504)
and 50mm (front screw thread M39 x .50; E39 filter) along with the
Tele-Elmarit-M f/2.8 90mm (front screw thread M39 x 0.50, E39 filter)
work great on my two CLs.

Best regards and the best of light,
