heavens no -- i use y 50 quite often. after playing around with 24s and 16s it
seems like a  telephot lens and is very handy for much general photography. I
also clap a doubler on it and use it for portraits -- it focuses closer than
my 135 and isn't as tight. Leica didn't make a bazillion 50mm lenses because
nobody used them, and still produces them I see.
