Real simple, Nikon, Canon and others are in a business to make money.  They
make and support what sells.  There is not a market for Nikon Manual focus
that would equal the size (in dollars) as that which Nikon has with AF
cameras (and this includes P&S cameras).  So why bother.  On the other hand
there is Leica, whioch makes money selling and supporting lenses and systems
which really have not changed in design for decades.  Its like comparing
Apples to a Fruit Stand (no flames, I don't mean PCs here.)
