Subject: [Leica] Adapter for Leica lens to Minolta

The latest aerial photography adventure looks like it will be to capture a
digital image of all of Humboldt Bay (about 5 by 20 miles) for a Humboldt
State grad student's project. Since a Kodak Photo CD will be adequate
resolution, I am thinking of using 35mm instead of the Hasselblad to
capture the approx 75 photos that would encompass the bay from around
10,000 feet altitude (and also fit neatly on one Photo CD).

The only motorized 35mm camera I have is a Minolta SRM on loan from the
college (still looks brand new), including the Rokkor f1.2/58mm lens. I am
doubtful that this huge chunk of glass will give me anywhere the resolving
power of either my 50mm Summicron-R (2 cam) or Summicron DR lenses.

Does a Leica R or M to Minolta (MC mount) adapter exist, so I could mount
one of the Leica lenses on the Minolta (the SRM is like an SRT-101)? I
won't be looking thru the viewfinder, so manual f-stops for the SL would be
fine. Or, alternatively, is there a way to put a used motor on a Leica for
around $300? I have SL, SL2, M2,3,4,6 bodies. Or, maybe I could figure out
a way to put a "remote extension" on my Abrahamsson Rapid Winder, holding
it in my lap while the M2 lays lens down on the airplane floor looking thru
the camera port. . . Hey Tom, there's a great project for your next evening
with nothing to do!
