You should try the Irish compromise. Some of our roadsigns are in miles,
others (more modern) in kilometres. The fun, if you're a tourist, is
guessing which is which.

In addition, there is also the old 'Irish mile' which is considerably
longer than the English variety.

There is a story that a few years ago when Ireland joined the EEC there was
a plan to switch to driving on the right. The taxi-drivers here in Cork
asked if they could change over a week early to get some practice in.. :-)
