Subject: [Leica] Leica R Reliability

I just read an interesting article on James Stanfield (of National Geographic fame). In it, he states that he switched from Leica to N***n because his Leica bodies kept failing on him. He said that he would go on a shoot with 8 to 10 bodies and return with one or two (or sometimes none) working. Does anyone know what bodies he may be referring to? I was also wondering what is the LUG consensus as to the most reliable R body ever made. Maybe R6/R6.2, being (almost) all mechanical? Has anyone ever had any horrific experiences with these?
