Last summer my cousin visited and we projected about 50 color slides.  The 
ones taken in the mid to late 40's were Kodachrome and some in the 50's were 
Kodachrome.  The Kodachrome slides held their color very well while the 
others very very faded.

I would opt for Kodachrome if possible.
