I don't remember anyone saying this.  Although I enjoy using the newest Leica 
lenses, this does not mean the old ones are "useless."  Certainly "decent" 
photos could be taken with older lenses.  However, the new lenses offer even 
better quality in contrast and resolution at the larger apertures.  I find it 
nice to have this available.
