Read any standard finanacial journal -- the ECONOMIST is probably the best -- or read any standard text on Japanese industry. Or, read any standard history of the Allied occupation of Japan where this "wink-wink, nudge-nudge" compliance with the ban on conglomerates was allowed by the Allies from 1947 onwards. This is the story, guys. If you want to believe the polite assurances of the Nikon management, well, so be it. 'Tain't so, it is well documented, but, believe as you will. After all, this is a group which includes folks who believe Leica management hangs their decisions on our every discussion.
