When I was in high school, I used a IIIf.  During that time Kodak started to
shorted then leaders on the film.  Of course it didn't work with the IIIF.
It would misload.

So what I would do is to extend the leader so it was 3 inches, which would
do the trick.  Even today, I would just cut a onger even leader, as it is so
much faster than using a template.
