Subject: [Leica] Inexpensive Summarit shade trick

Bonsoir,

I gather there are at least a couple of Summarit users on this list.
About the infamous shade, aren t you tired of seeing them advertised for $
249.00 (US), or the like, in Shutterbug? Here is an efficient end
inexpensive way to get a proper shade. I recently purchased a used shade
for the Leicina cinecamera. The shade is marked with "8x8" and has a metal
back and a rubber front. Well this shade fits perfectly on the front of a
Summarit. All you have to do is place a very small piece of scotch tape on
the very front of the lens mount and the shade fits very snugly, twist (the
shade!) when you mount. Last step is for you to use an exacto or any very
sharp knife and permanently remove the rubber front.

I have tried this shade and it works perfectly, no vignetting whatsoever.
Cost of the whole operation? Eight (canadian) dollars!

  Hope this helps,

  Regards,

  Robert (Un chevalier sans blason)
