I love your description of the camera's function "something to hold film."
It brings home what the simplicity of what a camera could and should be. 
Which is why I got into Leica in the first place although starting with
the rangefinders.

My little phrase I made up once is quite a mouthful:
"L bracket for attaching a quality lens to a quality tripod"

But I have an easier time spitting out your "something to hold film."
It says all that is needed to say.
