What it is most likely due to is the front element has been "over tightened" or turned to far and thus the pegs that the shade sits on are a little off center. What can you do? You can send it to a repair technician and they can realign it. I have thought of putting a washer in there myself...but that would most likely affect the focus of the lens by moving the front element out...so I don't think you have many choices but to have it repaired (or if the lens is just bought return it...) later, Rich
