Subject: [Leica] crooked shade

The sun shade ( rectangular) for my 35mm Summicron sits at a very slight
angle from being straight on when looking at the camera. I can't see any
noticeable vignetting but it bothers me aesthetically. Any thoughts, as the
catch notches on the lens do not appear to be adjustable.

I've seen this on a lot of those. What it is most likely due to is the front
element has been "over tightened" or turned to far and thus the pegs that the
shade sits on are a little off center.

What can you do? You can send it to a repair technician and they can realign
it. I have thought of putting a washer in there myself...but that would most
likely affect the focus of the lens by moving the front element out...so I
don't think you have many choices but to have it repaired (or if the lens is
just bought return it...)
