Subject: [Leica] R zoom sources, for precision's sake

Hi LUG,

There has been recently some discussion about the sources of some of Leica's
current R zooms.

I believe the f4 35-70, and the f4 80-200 are both Kyocera manufactured. I
was under the impression that the f3.5-4.5 28-70 is Sigma manufactured. Is
this correct? I believe this is the way my dealer explained it.

The reason for my question is that in functioning, both the current 35-70
and 80-200 have a similar feel, and the 28-70 a different, to my hand, less
smooth "feel". Also, while I use the 35-70, and the 80-200, I have been
told that the 28-70 is less sophisticated optically, but I have no
photographic evidence or experience with the 28-70.

Enjoy the light.
