Subject: [Leica] R5/R7/R8 opinions

My R8 is spending the next month or so in New Jersey. Seems Leica is not only
over loaded with repair work but they are short staffed as well. They had one
person retire and another had to be let go.

Back in June I picked up an R5 and motor from Jim Kuehl as a backup and I'm
using it much more now that the R8 is away.

My question to the group's R7 owners is this: Is the R7 a worthwhile
upgrade/replacement to the R5?

What could/should I sell the R5 for and/or what should I expect to pay for an
R7?

I really like the idea of 1/2 stop shutter speeds (as in the R8). I shoot a lot
of sports at maximum aperature, so the 1/2 stop shutter speed makes sense when I
need to open up 1/2 stop and the aperature is already wide open!

Opinions appreciated,

Dave Strang
