IMO if you are handholding 400 speed color neg film and having it processed 
at the supermarket you might consider even the new "cheap" LTM lenses 
overkill.  Buy any glass-lensed P&S and take your wife on a weekend getaway.

As to people basing their purchases on objective assessments of their needs, 
next time you're in Florida try counting the number of Mercedes SUV's, not to 
mention Escalantes, Navigators, Expeditions, Excursions, LX400's, Land 
Cruisers, HumVees and 9000-lb Excursions, all of which their owners of course 
bought with those crippling winter blizzards in mind, right?
