If Leica wants to broaden its customer base, only the first category offers that
possibility to any significant extent.

But only the first offers real possibilities for revenue expansion.

If it mounted Leica M lenses, every Konica or Minolta sold would represent
potential revenue for Leica.  Most M6 owners invest far more in lenses than in
the camera body itself.

Agreed.  I'd still buy an M6, for the sake of having the best.  That's why I
bought a Nikon F5.
