I love the copy describing the G zoom...particularly this..

"The secret of the true to life reproduction is in the optical design. And
performance is optimum even at full aperture, or under poor lighting
conditions. In fact, these are conditions where the visible difference
really becomes apparent."

Damn right, because under poor lighting conditions, the 3.5 maximum aperture
will leave you virtually unable to take a photo! (Without flash, that is...)
