The National Security Council of the People's Republic of China has
declared the (original 8 x 11 mm) Minox camera a spy tool and forbidden its
sale in the republic. Several Minoxes were confiscated when the local
offices of the Minox representative were raided said Mr Kortemeier, the
General Manger of Minox (a Leica subsidiary), according to today's
Frankfurter Allgemeine. The paper noted that the camera was constructed in
1935 by Walter Zapp in Riga in Lettland and has been made in Germany since
1948. Zapp is now 94 years old.

If they have Christmas in China, I guess some high party officials will get
a nice present. Or did the the chinese spies need some cameras and had no
money? Anyway, do not bring your Minox to China, - and they may not know
the difference between 35 mm and 8 x 11 mm.
