mike,

does he use a 90mm? in a recent blurb, he claims to prefer a fifty, though
i have often wondered exactly which lens he uses. (i seem to recall he at
one point used the summicron dr - could that be the one with which he made
those close up images that slip quickly and quietly from the point of focus
into a beautifully grainy bokeh?)

have you seen the recent 'deux ex machina' published by taschen? it is a
sort of 'anthology' of all of r gibson's early books, as well as a
wonderful compilation of more recent material. in addition, there are
interesting annotations and commentaires by gibson on his work. there's
also a beautiful catalogue, 'courant continu,' published in france earlier
this year on the heels of an exhibit at the maison européenne de la
photographie.

a fascinating photographer for many reasons (in addition to the images, his
conception of the photographic book, the pairing of images and their
subsequent sequencing...), imho, and a leica devotee...

yo!
