Subject: [Leica] R8 motor drive

For what its worth, I pass on the following except from the digital
newsletter of the British Journal of Photography:

"Leica has developed a motor drive for its R8 SLR, which gives a shooting
rate of up to 4.5 frames per second and will be available early in the new
year. The back has two separate release buttons for horizontal and vertical
framing. The drive is designed to smoothly match the design of the camera
to form a perfectly balanced unit.

Costing 598 including VAT in the UK, the drive is said to be extremely
quiet in operation. Film loading is automatic to the first frame, leaving
the camera ready for immediate operation. There are three selectable
framing rates: continuous high (CH) for the 4.5fps maximum rate, continuous
low (CL) for up to 2fps and single (S) shot.
