hello jorge,

i think, it depends on what you like to photograph: landscapes or people?
and in what part of india: snowy & cold himalajas, bright desserts,
hottest green south?

well - some time have passed since i have been in india (in winter
1982/83...), but when i remember back: in central india (delhi etc) it
must be very dry & hot at this time; if i would go to india again (i would
love that!), i would do lots of photographs of interesting people, crowded
markets, railway stations, on a railway-trip...
so - i think that a leica is a nice camera for india just because of its
more decent look than the common touristy AF-SLR-stuff hanging over the
belly with long teles ... maybe you will be less noticed as a photographer
by everyone - what for sure is (was?) a benefit in india...

for your picture-results i think for market scenes etc. a noctilux must be
amazing... (never used one) but be prepared of horrible high contrasts:
bright sun, deepest shadows, dark holes, amazing colours... but you
should'nt forget a wideangle (24 or 35) as well... go early in the morning
or late afternoon or night...

take care (like in any other crowded places on earth) about your equipment
- - some people are still very poor in india - selling a stolen leica with a
noct. would save - i just guess - the living-costs of a very big family
for a few years... (so don't talk to anyone about the worth of your
equipment, better you say: this is my old-fashioned camera, unfortunately
i can't afford a newer one.. ;-)

have lots of fun & good luck
thomas böhm
