Yes.  Look at Tamron, Tokina and Sigma.  They are producing lenses that 
compete with OEM lenses in quality, innovation-and price.   They are not 
bargain products by any means.  And they seem to be staying in business.  If 
Tokina can figure out to manufacture a lens in Canon mount, can't Leica.  
Then the marketplace really will decide.
