Actually, Xtol uses an inedible variant of ascorbic acid, not Vitamin C.
But it's a close cousin. We've published several true Vitamin C formulas
by Pat "Gadget" Gainer (with and without sodium sulfite) that you can
make with Vitamin C powder you buy from the health-food store. They're
surprisingly good developers, too. One advantage is that (like Xtol)
they're environmentally friendly--you could almost drink one of Pat's
developers and it wouldn't hurt you.
