In response to recent queries about details, please allow me to fill in some
of the blanks about this event. As most you may know, the dates are April
14-16, which is a particularly terrific time to be in Washington. Although
some varieties of Cherry Blossoms will have fully bloomed, other varieties
will be at peak--not to mention the azaleas, tulips and other spring foliage
with which the city is abundantly blessed.

The headquarters hotel is the Doubletree Park Terrace on Embassy Row (ph #
202-232-7000). This is a fine property which has received over $30M in
renovations during the past year, and is a great value in addition to having
an excellent location. It is within two blocks of two different METRO
stations for safe, inexpensive and convenient access to all points of
interest in the District, and is also two blocks from National Geographic's
Explorers Hall which always has outstanding exhibits and displays of their
staffers' work. Many other nearby museums, especially the Corcoran, feature
notable photographic exhibitions throughout the year.

The group room rate is $132 single or double occupancy, and the group block
is listed under Leica Historical Association of America. More details on the
actual program should be available in the LHSA Quarterly and are supposed to
be posted on the LHSA website. I will be happy to answer any questions about
D.C. here or privately if there is a need.

Best regards -- Mike Crist
