The Special M6 Black Paint that is ordered by a Japanese Company is a
'Millenium M6" style camera, M3 rewind and advance but with the 0,85 finder
instead of the 0,72 in the regular "Millenium M6." The corporation that has
ordered it is Kanto, the largest Leica repair service in Japan. They can
virtually rebuild any Leica from scratch and they make some of the parts
themselves. Particularly parts for 'Barnack-Leicas." They also supply several
of the repair facilities in Japan with reconditioned M parts, M2/M3
top-covers, baseplates, backdoors etc. A couple of years ago they made a
replica SCNOO winder for the 3f and 3G camera. I have seen some of their
products and the quality is absolutely top-notch. The 200 cameras have been
made as a celebration for Kanto receiving some kind of award.
The Black Paint LHSA M6 is still on track AND it will be available with
either 0,72 or 0,85 finder and it is limited to LHSA members only. Bill
Rosauer has been working on this for quite a while and he will undoubtedly
inform the LUG when it is ready to launch (just in case, renew your LHSA
membership).
