[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]I agree that flash and M Leica's are not the premier combination for me, but there are some notable photogs who did/do use it with their Leica's: - -W.E.Smith - although It was most often off-camera, and he used a wide range of cameras, not just Leica(as I learned from LUG'ers) - -David Alan Harvey- as already pointed out. - -Mary Ellen Mark?- I know she uses flash for 4x5,6x6 anyone know about her Leica stuff? - -Doisneau- again mostly 6x6, but maybe some 35mm w/ flash? - -Brassai- ok, maybe not Leica but I like his night stuff! Maybe the disdain for the Leica M+Flash combo is that everyone has the mental image of those horrible family pics from the on-camera flash from grandma's point and shoot! I know I do. I think the above photogs perhaps show us that it's the skilled use of flash( fill or off camera), as with any light source, that makes it a useful combination. Mark Rutledge markrut@ticnet.com
