Spainards are some of the most cordial people I've met. However, tripods aren't accepted in most institutions. Can't compete with the 'professional' slides purchased at the institutions 'store'. Having said this, I've been carrying a 4x5 around Spain/Portugal for the last five years and they really had a problem with me. So when they saw my 50lb pack and very large tripod, they usually blocked me at the door. Most people with 35s and no tripods had no problems. You might try a monopod. by the way. Spain in April is a real special time. the light is spectacular.
