so i'm out shooting with my m6 yesterday, it's dark out, i'm shooting by
street light ... i get to the end of a roll, wait! what's this! great shot
coming up! two people walking towards me carrying a huge plastic cow
upside down on their backs. i rewind my film, fast fast fast, remove the
baseplate -- people and cow getting closer! -- remove old film, put in new
film, close up baseplate -- wind click! wind click! wind click! -- they're
on top of me! no time to meter, grab the shot! got it! wshew! off to shoot
more -- about five shots later, i tilt the camera up to take a shot of a
building spire, something cold flaps onto my cheek -- the backplate!
damnit! i put the baseplate on without properly seating the backplate!
@#$@#$! -- remove the -- what?! where the heck is my base plate! nothing
but FILM here at the bottom of my camera (gloves on, you know, can't feel
a thing) -- run back along the route i traversed (thanks for the snow, i
know exactly where i went) -- ah ha! here's my baseplate, in three inches
of snow. wipe it off on my shirt, put it back on the camera -- off again.

where did those two guys with the plastic cow go?

kc

moral of the story? who knows.
