Hi Dave

Here is the simplest most efficient and least screwing around method that
has produced beautiful B&W slides for me. And trust me I've tried a half
dozen methods.

Make the best quality prints you need to copy.

Load your camera with Agfa SCALA B&W slide film, drop prints on floor with
window light, camera on tripod, copy prints, send film to lab, get slides
back, that's it! Beautiful rich black and white slides from B&W film, you
don't have any concerns for colour casts of any kind. You don't need copy
stands and lights. Like keep it simple! :) However, a 60 or 100 macro lens
is extremely helpful. Leica of course! ;)

It's SCALA all the way.
