Hmm. I've been using my Sprintscan 35E/S for about 5 years now, with four
generations of driver and scanner software, with excellent results. While
I'm not as thrilled with the PolaColor Insight software as I am with the
older Polaroid scanning application, it does a perfectly reasonable job
for me. (It tries to be too automated ... I prefer twiddling the knobs
myself... :)

Anyway, try calibrating your screen with Photoshop first. Then be sure
you've picked the correct input profile for scanner/film, and display
profiles for your monitor. A little tweaking in the curves and tones
selections and it should scan perfectly into Photoshop.

All the pictures on my web page "Chasing Light" were scanned with
PolaColor Insight and took only the barest hint of tonal adjustment with
Photoshop.
