Focusing and aperture movement silky smooth. The lens hood could do with a diet, big, heavy and conical, unlike the svelte versions offered by Leica and Minolta. This lens was clearly superior to a 1st series Leica Elmarit-M I compared it with though I haven't tried it against more recent offerings. I like the size of it most, unlike the Leica lenses it is compact (apart from the hood). He has the Ricoh in stock for 475GBP (more than half the price of the leica 28). He says customers are very happy with it and would rate it as good as the leica. I've heard that the build isn't as good and it isn't as good as third generation Elmarits. Still, for street photog with fast films, I'm not sure if the extra 700GBP is worth it. Julian
