Fay Godwin is English and specialises in environmental issues and
landscapes. I believe she prints all of her own work using a devere enlarger
with a cathomag head. Last I heard, all her stuff was on 35mm Nikon. She did
a book with the poet Ted Hughes called 'Remains of Elmet' as well as a more
documentary book dealing with man and landscape. I always get the impression
that her photographs all seem to be preoccupied with stillness. I had a
similar feeling with Martin Parr's work at the recent Magnum exhibition. In
London, anyway, the show finishes with the work of Parr ( I think!!). When
you see his work in relation to the other Magnum photographers, you realise
where there was a problem accepting him!!
