Thanks. I stand corrected (and it's not bad netiquette). I have two of
his
books. You'd think I'd remember how to spell his name.<<<


Actually, he himself spelled his name "Winograd," as did his parents.
"Winogrand" got started more or less adventitiously--and not by
him--possibly as a sort of friendly vamp on the theme of "grand"-ness.
He wasn't behind it himself. He felt he was stuck with it and never
corrected it. I understand his children spell their name "Winogrand."
