The best 35mm agitation is achieved using a generous airspace in the tank and allowing the reels some movement. See an article called "Shake It Up!" by George Post published in _Darkroom Photography_ magazine in about 1986--most thorough experimentation on agitation methods in home developing I've seen before or since. I should edit a book-length compendium of the best technical articles ever published in the magazines.... - --Mike
