before everyone explained all the fancy dancy mathematical calculations to
me which I still don't understand, I did some calculations of my own...I
figured, 2.0 - 1.4 = .6...Now, if it's a full stop between 1.4 and 2.0, a
1.5 lens would be 1/6th of a stop less than 1.4...which ain't far from
1/5th...of course as this calculation method varies between every f stop,
it's probably not terrifically accurate..:-)

B. ecause I never D.id well in math.

There's a nifty little calculator you can download that does all sorts of
photography-related calculations. The Windows version can be downoaded from
http://www.cyberport.com/~tangent/photo/fcalc/index.html and there's a link
at that site to a Mac PowerPC version.

According to this calculator, 1/10 stop past f/1.4 is f/1.45. f/1.5, it
says, is 2/10 stop.
